Nirma Has Guts To Lie

The media only craves for Mirch Masala. Nirma had the guts to lie on camera. In a recent interview, Nirma told media sources that she was at a private party in London few days back and she met Prince Williams there. Prince Williams was not only present at the party but also holding her hand and not letting go of Nirma.

Nirma seems to be either hallucinating or something. And this time poor Meera seems pretty much better than Nirma.

Nirma we think you should get a life and get yourself some decent work to catch media's attention!

At New York's Comic Con

It’s that special time of year again, for fanboys, joystick addicts and comic-book enthusiasts to emerge in their gloried, creative ensembles, and congregate at the 4th annual New York Comic Con.

What began as a mini-me version of the original San Diego Comic Con, has undoubtedly ballooned into a full-blown NY comic extravaganza within the last few years. The fascinating comic cult simply took over the overwhelmingly large Jacob Javits Center.

No More Oscars Red Carpet?!

Well, to a degree. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has asked presenters at this year’s Oscars to skip the pre-show -- and apparently most have agreed.

The request comes after last year’s televised ceremony was watched by a record-low audience, which the Academy thinks can be remedied by presenters taking a secret route to the Kodak Theatre on Feb. 22.

That way, the Academy reasons, viewers will be forced to tune in to see just who will be presenting and what (or who) they’re wearing, reports the L.A. Times

In short: more inherent mystery to be revealed during the actual telecast.

Which is all well and good for camera-loathing A-listers like Johnny Depp, but for those who throw pre-show-themed viewing parties, it definitely stings a little bit.

Hamilton's Return to 'Terminator'?

Linda Hamilton is playing with the idea of making her return to the Terminator franchise.

”We are talking,” Hamilton told MTV.com. She confirmed that her role as Sarah Connor would be in the form of a voiceover but couldn’t offer any additional details since they haven’t finished writing it yet.

The actress does talk a little bit about why she’s considering lending her voice to director McG’s new installment when she wouldn’t appear in the third film.

The difference seems to be that McG is trying to honor the original James Cameron films -- a stance she didn’t think the third picture took.

McG has said her role in Salvation would provide a solid link between the movies we know and the new chapter.

Early Reviews: Worth Watching 'Watchmen'?

The $120 million comic book adaptation Watchmen, one of 2009's most eagerly awaited films, has had its world premiere in London, and early reviews cast the movie as classy but no classic, reports Reuters

Directed by Zack Snyder, whose 300 was a box office winner in 2007,Watchmen is based on a 1986 comic book series of the same name written by Briton Alan Moore and illustrated by compatriot Dave Gibbons.

Critics gave it mixed reviews:

"For those just watching Watchmen for the Watchmen, without any expectations or knowledge of the comic's storyline or historical importance, this really will be a blast," wrote Mike Ragogna in the internet newspaper The Huffington Post

But Robbie Collin, of one of Britain's top-selling weekly News of the World, disagreed: "This two-and-a-half-hour wannabe pop culture epic isn't the worst superhero movie ever made ... But it is one of the most spirit-crushingly disappointing," he said.

As with other movies based on his stories, Moore has distanced himself from the film, which hits theaters on March 6.

Asked if Moore was likely to watch the movie, deemed "unfilmable" by some in the business, Snyder told Reuters: "Look, you know Alan has famously said 'I don't want anything to do with it' and I just try and respect that as much as I can."

The Fate of Ledger's Final Film

You'd think studios would be fighting over each other to get a shot at distributing the late Heath Ledger's final film, but that's not the case.

Ledger's film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is facing a limited U.S. release as bosses struggle to land a deal with a major distributor, reports Reuters

Parnassus, the story of a traveling magician, who gives customers more than they bargained for, is a joint production of Grosvenor Park and Davis Films.

The project's fate was thrown into question when Ledger, who was just recently handed the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, unexpectedly died -- that is, until Jude LawColin Farrell and Johnny Depp stepped in. All three are part of an elaborate work-around that has the actors playing different aspects of Ledger's role.

Executives have been searching for six months for backers but are having difficulty finding a company to release the experimental movie.

An industry source tells Reuters, "This movie stars Heath Ledger in his final performance -- it will get a deal and come out in the U.S. But it's no accident that it's taking this long."

Mayer was 'very, very nervous' to attend Oscars with Aniston

Washington, Feb 26 : John Mayer has confessed that he was 'very, very nervous' to attend the Oscars with lover Jennifer Aniston.

"It's not my world, the Oscar thing," Us magazine quoted him, as saying on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

"You can go from a Grammy winner to a water boy when you walk in the Kodak Theatre on Oscar night," he said.

"That's just like a whole different level," he added.

As for the reason why he went to the ceremony, he said he went as "moral support" for Aniston.

Although he went there to support Aniston, Mayer said his role soon turned into: "'Will you please introduce me to so-and-so?'"

Added the singer, "It was really, really fun."

"As men, we're incredibly sensitive about the decisions that we make with the women that we're with," he went on.

"I'm the kind of person who's like: If I'm going out with a friend who's bringing a woman and that friend brings another friend and I have to sit on one side of the table with that other person I don't know, I have a terrible time because I always feel like people look by and go, 'Oh, look who he's with!'

"The whole thing is very odd to me. I maybe need to grow up or something.

"So the idea of walking down a red Carpet is such ... you know that forever, I basically stepped into the picture frame of Hollywood," Mayer continued.

"For one night, I put on the most amazing suit and entered into the picture frame," he added.

"You have to really be with someone that you know who has your back in that situation, and she did, and it was really great," said Mayer.

Asked why he and Aniston decided to make the Oscars their first major public event together, he said, "At some point, you feel comfortable and say this is the choice I want to make."

Women Awards 2009 held at ITC Grand Maratha saw Aamir making a surprise entry and enthralling many present but at the same time charging up the entire atmosphere of the event for good.

An annual affair, the awards are conceived and founded by Anu & Shashi Ranjan and now in its 8th year they were given in a total of 21 different categories to women achievers from all over the country. Apart from Aamir the event was attended by some very prominent celebrities like Kumarmanglam Birla, Yash Chopra, Harman Baweja, Roop Kumar Rathod, Alka Yagnik, Prem Chopra, Farah Khan and many others. The theme of the event was Anu Ranjan's cause against female foeticide called 'Beti'.

The highlight of the evening was a special tribute paid to 4 women for their bravery - 3 from Mumbai during the 26/11 attacks and one decorated police officer from Jammu & Kashmir. Farah Khan who gave away the prize for Medicine to Dr. Firuza Parikh personally thanked her for helping her conceive her 3 kids. With a lean period ahead, all eyes on Akshay Kumar

DELHI 6 was being looked at as the savior of Bollywood but just-about-ordinary response to the film means that the industry will have to turn towards superstars yet again to bring in some moolah back into the industry.
January and February have been heartbreaking with Shah Rukh Khan (BILLU), Akshay Kumar (CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA) and Abhishek Bachchan (DELHI 6) not really managing to bring in much success at the box office. Relatively smaller films like RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES (Emraan Hashmi) and DEV D (Abhay Deol) have worked but they have helped the makers more than the industry as a whole due to their low costing and hence low revenue generation.

So where does this leave a quintessential Bollywood blockbuster? Sadly, none of them is in sight at least for next one month. There are potential winners like DHOONDTE REH JAAOGE, ALOO CHAAT, 13 B, GULAAL and AA DEKHEN ZARA but does one really expect any of them to do a business of more than 10 odd crores each? In fact if these films touch this mark then they would well be winners. However, that too will be mainly from pricing perspective. Expecting a 20-30-40 crores kind of a business from any of these films would be asking for too much.

So what ails Bollywood in such a scenario, especially when the industry is in desperate need of some serious cash flow? Well, look towards Akshay Kumar who will be beginning the second quarter of 2009 with 8x10 TASVEER. A Nagesh Kukunoor film which appears to be part-commercial-part-offbeat, TASVEER has been long in the making but still interesting enough to entice that segment of audience that would love to watch Akshay Kumar doing something different from the routine.

Again, this is not a film where even the makers would be expecting 50 crores (or above) in collections coming in. Still, it should bring in a substantial quantum of audience when compared to the other releases in the month of March and hence help the industry gain some stand. Come 3rd April and we should have an answer.

The man who was hit by all the brickbats post CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is being looked as a savior all over again! Well, such is the way of Bollywood!

Get well, Mr Khan, says Big B

It has taken just one shoulder under the knife to bring together Bollywood’s emperor emeritus and its reigning king.

“Come home sir, we shall play some games,” Shah Rukh Khan wrote to Amitabh Bachchan, responding to the latter’s message that he had planned to visit Shah Rukh in hospital. There were no games, but green tea and veg snacks for the man once voted India’s sexiest vegetarian when he dropped in at Mannat and spent an hour there on Wednesday evening, says a source from SRK’s domestic staff.

“Despite being advised rest, sir [Shah Rukh] refuses to be in bed,” the source tells us. “Mr Bachchan and sir sat in the room for almost an hour. Both the kids, Aryan and Suhana, came down to wish Mr Bachchan.”

On Tuesday, the day SRK got operated upon, Bachchan had posted on his blog: “Shahrukh has been in hospital for a surgery. I had sent him a message for his speedy recovery. He calls back to thank and inform that he is home. ‘Was getting depressed in hospital,’ he says, ‘so came away.’ Oh! I was planning on visiting you in hospital. ‘Come home sir, we shall play some games [he replied].’”

Concerned elder
A concerned Big B also said that he even cautioned SRK, “Do not take after-surgery too lightly, I warn him, take rest and do not get into any kind of activity. He sounds a little groggy. I shall visit him tomorrow.”

When he did, warm host Gauri Khan took great care of her special guest. “Sir is not allowed to have black coffee these days,” the source says. “Both Amitabhji and sir had simple green tea. Since Amitabhji is a vegetarian, all snacks served were veg.” Reportedly, Bachchan also chatted with Gauri’s mother Savita Chibber, who was in the house.

The Dark Knight gets re-released in India

The Oscar-nominated film, The Dark Knight created quite a stir in the filmi audience with theatres going house full for almost the entire time the film was running. Though some may attribute this to the awe inspiring and simply wondrous performance by the late Heath Ledger, others will certainly say that the film was good on its own.The film was hailed by both critics and audiences since its original release last July, and now once again the director Christopher Nolan (with the use of IMAX cameras to film some of the most challenging action sequences ever created) has planned on re-releasing the film. However this time the Batman film The Dark Knight shall be releasing in IMAX version at IMAX Big Cinemas, Wadala, Mumbai on February 20, 2009.
